Sunday Devo - August 27, 2023

“although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim 1:13-14)

What was your life like before you came to Christ? Some refer to those days as the BC days (Before Christ).
In the book of Acts we have documented the BC version of Saul/Paul. He was fearful and a threat to all believers. Not only did he have the authority from the chief priest(s) to bind and throw in prison all believers, but even put some to death. 
But Paul never forgot his past and realized it was by God’s grace and mercy he was saved. Before that he openly persecuted Christ and His followers without even understanding the teaching of Jesus. 
BC, Paul was all about religion, after he was all about relationship. 
It is this part of Christianity that never gets old as John talks about in his gospel: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13).
