"O to grace how great a debtor, daily I’m constrained to be.
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it; prone to leave the God I love.
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above."

This quote is from the old hymn, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. I am struck by how candid the author (Robert Robinson) is, as he reflects on the condition of his heart when it comes to spiritual things, and matters of eternity.
We can probably all relate to these words, as we go through periods were we feel like we are wandering and drifting in our spiritual walk, or struggling with doubt and sin. When the Spirit convicts us and we seek to be cleansed and restored, we may feel unworthy and unsure if we are forgiven, as the enemy of our soul accuses us. It is at this time that we need to take refuge and trust in the Word, where we are given tremendous hope and encouragement that follows confession; both to experience forgiveness and a cleansing from unrighteousness.

Furthermore, let's remember the encouragement found in 1 John 3:20 that states “For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”
