Resurrection Sunday Devotional - April 9, 2023

As we celebrate this Resurrection Day, it is fitting to reflect on the significance of the empty tomb. The empty tomb is a cornerstone of the Christian faith. Why? It points to the resurrection of Jesus, which is a key point of the Gospel message… Jesus came to earth to live as a perfect example for us, possessing simultaneously both the attributes of man, and of God. His death on the cross fulfilled many prophecies, as He paid the ultimate price and sacrifice on our behalf, to provide a way for sinful man to be reconciled to God. The resurrection illustrates that Jesus had victory over death, while the empty tomb illustrates that the grave could not contain Jesus. Thru His redemptive work on the cross, those that come to a saving faith in Jesus can have that same hope… to be risen from the dead, escaping the confines of the grave, and spending eternity future with their Lord.
The apostle Paul by the power of the Holy Spirit, wrote on the topic of resurrection, which is recorded in 1 Corinthians 15. This chapter speaks of the resurrection of Christ, of the dead, and of the resurrection body. Let us strive to have that saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, that we can echo the sentiment towards the end of that chapter which states: “… Death is swallowed up in victory. Oh death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is they victory?”
 -Roy

"O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."  1 Corinthians 15:55-57 KJV
